The question about which is better, brand names or generic brands, has been in play for years. In most cases it really comes down to personal opinion. You have consumers that will swear there is a major difference between a brand name product and a generic one. My wife for example, lives by the brand name product. If its not a brand name, it just isn’t as good. My mother used to be the same way. My mothers item of concern was bread. Her bread had to be a name brand. If not, it just could not live up to her expectations. For my wife it is coffee. It has to be a major brand or forget it. I guess just about every one in the world has an opinion on what is better and what is worse. That’s one thing about opinions, the world is full of them. Of all the items we could examine, electronics is one of the hardest. Electronics, as the plural insists, is not one item. Electronics covers a wide range of items, from communications to home audio.
With so many electrical items to be rated, its hard to generalize the question. Regardless of how you approach it, it still comes down to opinion and personal expectations of a particular product. Many retailers are now venturing into off name products in an effort to give their customers better options. Here is the thing to watch for. Many generic products and brand name products are manufactured the same way, utilizing the same parts, but you have to be on the look out for the missing little options or accessories. It may be the same product, but maybe there are some minor differences. Maybe the major brand came with a few more options. In the end, its all in the name and maybe in our heads. Perhaps you can buy a plasma TV at a generic price and save hundreds of dollars. The thing to take into consideration is rather or not the generic product will really be as durable. Is that quality really there? The answer I am afraid remains in the mind of the beholder.
